City Sues Over Mausoleum Construction

The city of Rogers is suing a company they say is not living up to its promises.

Mayor Steve Womack announced Wednesday afternoon that the city is suing a Texas company that was supposed to build a mausoleum at the city cemetery.

About 300 people have already purchased space in the mausoleum that is supposed to hold 588 crypts.

Womack said construction should be under way by now, but the developer has not shown any intent to start.

"I want to assure these people who hold contracts, bought in good faith, anticipating the construction of the mausoleum that that mausoleum is going to be built," Womack said.

Womack said the mausoleum is needed because the traditional cemetery will eventually run out of space.
