The game is heating up for the four remaining contestants, and the players have no idea how crazy things will become.
In their final day in L'aquila, Italy, host Anderson Cooper gave the four players -- Al, Bill, Dorothy, and Heather -- the chance to openly interview one another before heading off to their next destination.
Then, in a surprising twist of events, the mole from the show's first season, Kathryn Price, stopped by during dinner with a special delivery for the contestants. When they opened the box, they found it to be filled with worms -- a cryptic clue about the next game.
The next stop for the players is Calascio, Italy -- more specifically, Anderson's "Fun House." At 2 a.m., the players get to the house and find that it is filled with antique furniture and dolls that they describe as "creepy." Anderson explains that the next came is called High Card, and it's worth $100,000 for the pot, which currently stands at $486,000.
Anderson explained that besides the money up for grabs, the night's sleeping arrangements are also at stake. The winner of the game will go to the hotel and have a nice, comfortable night of sleep; the other three will have to stay in Anderson's "Fun House," with "his girls" (Anderson's nickname for the creepy dolls).
Each player is given a chip for $25,000. Each player is dealt a card, and the high card makes a decision -- either throw the money in the pot, or kick another player out of the game. Heather receives the first high card, and throws in her money. She is followed by Al and Bill, who also throw in their money. The last person to receive a high card is Dorothy, who hesitates in making her decision. After Al prompts her to throw in her money, she finally does. So the team makes $100,000 for the pot.
To determine the winner of the game, the players will be dealt cards again. The high card must kick someone out, until there is only one person left -- hence, the winner. Al kicks out Dorothy, Heather kicks out Al, and then Bill receives the final high card and kicks out Heather. Bill goes back to the hotel for a good night's sleep.
Alas, the game isn't over (you didn't think gaining $100,000 would be that easy, did you?). Anderson first takes Dorothy to her room for the night. Inside her room, Dorothy is told to get into a closed tiny room (smaller than a closet) with bright lights and sit on a stool. Anderson says that she must stay in the box for 30 minutes, or she will forfeit the $100,000 for the team.
Anderson then takes Al into his room. He is told to sleep all night (at that point it is 3:15 a.m.) on a bed with just a metal spring and no mattress. He cannot leave the bed or he will forfeit the money. Meanwhile, there are bubbles all over the room -- a sign of things to come. Finally, Heather is taken into a basement-like room with a large python. She is told to stay in there until Anderson comes back for her.
We then see how Dorothy is making out in the box, and all of a sudden, containers open and several cockroaches come dropping out. Then the lights go out. Dorothy starts panicking and itching and scratching, but she lasts inside the box for the 30 minutes.
The lights also go out on Heather, and she is left inside the pitch-black room with the large snake. Heather says she is terrified of snakes and decides to leave the room and forfeit the money. So $100,000 is taken away, bringing the pot back to the original $486,000.
While the girls get a few hours' sleep in the room with the creepy dolls, the purpose of the bubbles in Al's room is made known. All of a sudden, the song "Tiny Bubbles" by Don Ho starts playing. The song plays forward, backward, slow, fast -- it plays for five continuous hours. Al doesn't sleep a wink but manages to stick it out for the team. He was very disappointed when he learned that he did it all for nothing, that Heather had already lost the money for the team.
The next game is played in the morning, and it's called "The Liar Game." The purpose of the game is to test the ability of the players to lie. Al, Dorothy and Heather must pick two people to lie about what rooms they were in the night before and one player to tell the truth. Bill would be the "human lie detector," and he would have to determine which of the three was really telling the truth. He would have five minutes to interview each player after seeing a video clip of each room in Anderson's "Fun House."
If Bill figures out who's telling the truth, he will earn an exemption. If he doesn't, $50,000 will be added to the pot.
Heather goes in first, and she tries to convince Bill that she was in the room that Dorothy was in. Al goes in next, and he tells the truth about his "Tiny Bubbles" nightmare. Dorothy goes in last and lies to Bill about being in the snake room.
At the end, Bill says he finds all three of their stories suspicious, but finally says that he thinks Heather is telling the truth. Since Al was really the truth teller, Bill does not earn an exemption and the team earns $50,000, bringing the pot to $536,000.
At the end of each show, the players take a quiz with 10 multiple-choice questions about the identity of the mole. The player with the lowest score on the quiz must go home immediately.
During the players' interviews, Bill primarily suspects Heather and says he doesn't believe she'd really be that scared of a snake. Dorothy, who formed an alliance with Heather last week, says she'll trust Heather until the next quiz, and then it's every woman for herself. Heather seems to suspect both Bill and Dorothy. Al says that the other three players suspect each other and that he's on the outside.
Anderson reads off the names:
Heather -- survives
Al -- gone
With Bill, Dorothy and Heather left, one of them is the mole, one of them will win the pot, and one of them will be executed. The last two episodes will be interesting!
